How to Create a Free Click Invoice Account (Step-by-Step)

By Click Invoice Team

10 min read

No card, no trial clock, no sales call. Here is exactly what the Click Invoice sign-up asks for, what the six-digit code in your inbox is, and the five minutes of setup that make your first invoice look like it came from a real business.

Most invoicing tools make you work for the privilege of trying them. You pick a plan before you know what the software does, hand over a card for a trial you have to remember to cancel, and land on a settings screen with forty switches and no idea which three matter.

Click Invoice skips that. Five fields, one code from your inbox, and you are looking at your dashboard. If you type quickly, it takes about ninety seconds.

This guide covers the whole thing: what you need before you start, what each field on the form is actually for, the five minutes of setup worth doing straight after, and the two or three places people get stuck.

Not sure yet? Try it without an account first

Before you sign up for anything, scroll down the [Click Invoice home page](https://click-invoice.com) and you will find a working invoice generator sitting right there. Fill in your business name, the client, a line item and a tax rate, watch the preview build as you type, then download the PDF. No account, no email address, nothing stored.

It is the quickest way to see whether the output looks right to you. What it will not do is remember anything — saved clients, your branding, recurring schedules and automatic reminders all need an account. Which takes about ninety seconds, so let us do that.

What you need before you start

Honestly, not much:

  • A business name — whatever you want printed on the invoice. It does not have to be a registered company, and you can change it later.
  • An email address you can open right now. A six-digit code arrives there within a few seconds.
  • A phone number, with the country code.
  • Two minutes.

What you do not need is a credit card. There is one plan, it costs nothing, and there is no paid tier sitting behind it, so there is no trial to expire and nothing to cancel later. The full breakdown is on the [Click Invoice pricing page](https://click-invoice.com/pricing).

Step 1: Open the sign-up page

Go straight to the [Click Invoice sign-up page](https://app.click-invoice.com/register), or click Sign Up in the top-right corner of any page on the site.

Two things are worth noticing here. The form on the left is the entire sign-up — there is no second page and no wizard. And the "Sign up with Google" button below it skips the form completely if you would rather not invent another password. Same account, same free plan, one less thing to forget.

Step 2: Fill in the five fields

Business Name. This is the name that appears at the top of every invoice you send, so type it the way you want a client to read it — "Acme Traders", not "acme traders pvt". It is also the name of your workspace, which matters later when you invite staff. You can rename it any time from Settings.

Your Name. You, the human signing in. This shows up to your team and in the audit log, not on the invoice.

Email Address. Two jobs: it is how you sign in, and it is where the verification code and your notifications go. Worth knowing — this is not necessarily the address your invoices get sent from. Click Invoice can send them through your own SMTP later, so they arrive from your business address rather than from a third party.

Phone Number. Include the country code, like +92 300 1234567.

Password and Confirm. Eight characters minimum. The strength meter next to the box pushes you towards upper and lower case, a number and a symbol — worth listening to, since this account will hold your client list and your revenue figures.

Below the fields is a quick "confirm you are human" check. It usually passes on its own without you clicking anything. Then hit Create Account.

Step 3: Verify your email

Straight after sign-up you land on a verification screen with six empty boxes, and a code is on its way to the address you just entered.

Type it in — or paste the whole code and it fills all six boxes at once.

If it has not arrived after a minute:

  • Check spam and promotions. A first email from a domain your inbox has never seen often lands there.
  • Use the Resend button on the same screen. There is a short cooldown between sends, which is deliberate.
  • Read your email address back carefully. One wrong character at sign-up is the single most common reason a code never shows up.

Verification is not there to annoy you. Invoice reminders and payment notifications all go to this address, so it needs to actually work before the account is any use.

Step 4: Your dashboard

Once the code is accepted you are in. Click Invoice creates your business workspace automatically at sign-up — no separate "set up your company" step, no onboarding queue.

The dashboard opens on your numbers: total invoices, total clients, invoiced this month, outstanding balance, paid against overdue, and your revenue trend. On a brand-new account they are all zeros, which is oddly satisfying to start filling in.

Everything runs in the browser. Nothing to install, no licence key, no updates to chase — Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS all get the same app. The only file you ever download is the finished invoice PDF.

Step 5: The five minutes that make your invoices look real

You can send an invoice immediately. Spend five minutes here first and every invoice from now on comes out branded.

Settings, then Business Profile. Upload your logo, add your address, phone, website and tax ID, and set your default currency. Click Invoice handles PKR, USD, GBP, EUR, AED, INR and about forty more, and you can still switch currency on an individual invoice for an overseas client.

Settings, then Invoice Design. Pick one of four templates, set your brand colour and font, and upload a stamp and signature image if you use them. These are applied to the PDF automatically — you are not pasting an image onto every invoice by hand. You can [see the four invoice templates](https://click-invoice.com/templates) before you choose.

Settings, then Email (SMTP). Optional, but this is the one people thank themselves for. Connect your own mail details and invoices go out from your address, so a client sees your business in the sender line instead of some app they have never heard of.

Settings, then WhatsApp. Also optional. Plenty of clients read WhatsApp and ignore email entirely, and this is what puts WhatsApp next to email as a send option on every invoice.

Step 6: Send your first invoice

Add a client, add your line items, and watch the totals add up as you type. Tax and discount sit on the invoice itself, and there is one-click suggested wording if you are staring at the payment terms box with nothing to say.

Then send it — email the PDF, share a private view-only link, or push it to WhatsApp. Your client does not need an account, an app or a login to open any of them.

If you bill the same client every month, set the invoice to repeat weekly, monthly or yearly. The next one is generated and emailed on its due day without you touching it. And once an invoice goes past its due date, Click Invoice emails the reminder, so you are not the one sending the awkward follow-up.

Adding your team

If someone else raises invoices or manages clients for you, invite them from your business settings rather than sharing your password. Staff accounts get their own login, and you choose which areas each person can reach — clients, invoices, or both.

Everything they do lands in the same audit log as everything you do.

Two minutes on security

Worth doing on day one rather than after something goes wrong:

  • Turn on two-factor authentication, by authenticator app or emailed code. Free, like everything else.
  • Device verification is already on. A sign-in from a new device has to be confirmed before it goes through.
  • Check the audit log occasionally. Logins, exports and invoice emails are all recorded, with IP addresses.

When sign-up goes wrong

The code never arrived. Spam folder first, then Resend, then check the address you typed. If it is genuinely wrong, sign up again with the correct one.

"This email has already been taken." You already have an account. Use the [log-in page](https://app.click-invoice.com/login), and the forgot-password link on it if the password is gone.

The human check keeps failing. Usually a browser extension or a VPN interfering. Reload the page, or try an ordinary browser window with extensions switched off.

You typed the business name wrong. Not a problem — Settings, Business Profile, change it, save. Invoices you have already sent keep the name they were sent with.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Click Invoice actually free, or free until it isn't? Free. One plan, zero cost, no credit card, no trial period, and every feature on it — recurring invoices, multi-currency, inventory, staff accounts, the lot.
  • Do I need to download anything? No. It runs in any modern browser on any operating system. The only download is your invoice PDF.
  • Do my clients need an account to see an invoice? No. They open the PDF you emailed or the private link you shared. There is nothing to sign up for on their side.
  • Is there a cap on how many invoices I can send? No cap, and no watermark on the PDF. The invoice your client receives carries your branding only.
  • Can I bring my existing clients and products across? Yes — import both from a CSV file in one go, and export everything back out to CSV or PDF whenever you want. Your data is not locked in.
  • Can I sign up with Google instead? Yes. The "Sign up with Google" button sits right below the form and gives you exactly the same account.
  • Can I change my business name after signing up? Yes, from Settings, Business Profile. Invoices already sent keep the name that was on them at the time.

Ready when you are

Sign-up is five fields and a code. The five minutes after it — logo, colour, currency, your own sending address — are what turn a generic PDF into something that looks like it came from a business that has been doing this for years.
